You know, I was talking to someone else about the video I did last time on the computer hygiene and updating things and I was asked, "Dave, is that just applied just to my computer?" I'm like, actually, good question. It applies to all of your technology. You know, that smart TV you have hanging on your wall. It applies to that too, as well as your copier.

Every electronic device is going to have patches and updates that you should be doing. And with that, I'd love to give you three more things to be thinking about. One is going to be data protection. Part of it is to prevent bugs, which I mentioned last time, but really it's to be able to keep our data safe and protected.

Some of the patches and updates are to do exactly that. It's to close a small hole or to fix something in a protocol to keep my data safe or your data safe. The next one's going to be compatibility, and this is a big one. There's new devices coming out all the time and the interoperability between those devices.

Sometimes we need to tweak things and get things working. So if you want your next Bluetooth earbuds to work perfectly with your laptop and your phone and your tablet. Make sure you're keeping those devices updated. And the last one I'm going to give you today is regulatory compliance.

You might say, "Dave, I'm a small business. I'm not subject to regulatory compliance." Listen, regulatory compliance is merely a framework that we can use to go ahead and manage ourselves. And one of those key issues in every single regulatory compliance framework is You guessed it, the good hygiene of managing and patching your systems. And don't forget, every one of our clients, we're taking care of that for you.
