The IT Basics: Your Critical Back-Up Strategy

First, onboarding a customer.  What are the core things that we're looking at to make sure we bring into alignment, that we, that we make sure that we've, the pillars on which we're going to ensure that everything else is working. There's a couple of them. They're really basic. I mean, they're really, really basic.

The first, the most important hands down is identify where all the data is.  We need to understand, we need to know where all the data is because we need to make sure it's all backed up. I don't have to understand the level, what the importance of that data is or anything else. I just need to know where it all is so we can back it all up.

And what we'll find is. Well, data stored on this server, it's stored on that drive, it's stored in the cloud over here, and we start finding, oh, there's four, five, eight, ten locations where data is, it's on people's hard drives, that's on a, that's on a remote worker, a contractor over here, and you don't, you don't own that equipment, so all of a sudden we have it on ten, eleven places where the data is, and you're only backing up one or two.
