Can You Spot a Fake Email? Don't Get Tricked!

  • April 9, 2025

Probably everyone by now has received the famous Nigerian Prince scam email. While it's quaint in its day, there's a lot more complicated ways people are getting spam emails past us and scam emails past us. So I'd like to give you four things that you can look out for so you can spot these bad emails.

Number one is gonna be a fake email address. Now, what does a fake email address look like? Well, oftentimes what they'll do is they'll replace a letter or they'll add a funny letter. For example, Amazon has an O in it, not a zero. Next one to look for if look for generic readings. When Apple or Bank of America sends you an email, they will not say, dear customer, they know your name.

Check for grammar and spelling. A lot of spam emails or scam emails are coming from foreign nationals. English is not their primary language. The last one I wanna share with you is look for anything that's asking you to be urgent or an important or immediate action. For example, your account is about to be closed or somebody just bought something, if that does, if that wasn't you, click here. Something along those lines. Almost always.

Those are a draw to force you emotionally get you charged to go ahead and take an action and fall for their trap. Hopefully that helps. I hope you get a great idea that you can apply in your world and your life today to stay a little bit safer. I look forward to seeing you next time.
