One of the key things I think everyone needs to be contemplating when they're putting together a plan for how they deal with a disaster is how, what's their communication plan? The part of the plan that talks about what do we do if our key leaders are out of commission and unavailable? Who do we communicate with?
How do we communicate with all of our employees? How do we communicate with all of our clients that issue of communicating with your people to let them know where to go, where to get help? If you haven't thought that through and organize that ahead of time in the middle of a disaster is not the time to do it.
Define your communication plan. Spend some time thinking about that.
