Secrets of Ransomware & How to Protect Yourself

  • October 3, 2024

For a law firm, ransomware can devastate their organization. A lot of people don't quite understand what it is. And let me just give you a quick, a quick explanation of what that is. Ransomware happens when a bad actor, that's what we're just going to call them, a bad actor, send you an email, trying to get you to click on a link. You visit a website that you shouldn't for whatever reason, and you click on something.

The issue usually is you're clicking on something which fires off a payload. That payload installs some software in your computer. That's malware.  What that software does is it encrypts all of your data and then holds you hostage.

That's ransomware.
